Saint Mary's Hospital & the Franklin Medical Group is looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team! Administrative duties include, but are not limited to, greeting patients, verifying insurance, collection of co-insurance and/or other deposit payment amounts, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties include, but are not limited to, taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, and drawing blood as directed by physician.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or Registered Certified Medical Assistant from an approved exam certifying body such as American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required. Knowledge in anatomy and physiology and of medical terminology is required. Demonstrated proficiency in keyboarding, transcription, reordering, and insurance processing necessary. The Medical Assistant must have reliable transportation. This position may require travel to various practices in the Greater Waterbury area. Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or a combination of experience in direct patient care and healthcare administration is desired.
