The Clinical Research Technologist serves as a bench technologist for the laboratories in the Center for Clinical Diagnostics. Bench duties include acquiring and logging in samples, performing, interpreting and resulting assays with particular emphasis on PCR based molecular procedures. Other duties include providing assistance for other technologists, maintaining inventory, participating in, preparing, and reviewing new assay procedures and providing assistance to the lab manager to ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA and JCAHO requirements. This position is also responsible for providing progress and update reports to the lab manager and director. In addition, this position will participate in research involving the development and validation of new clinical assays.
Knowledge and performance of clinical diagnostics consistent with CAP and/or CLIA requirements.
Assist in maintaining laboratory environment and function at a level consistent with CAP and CLIA guidelines
Participate in new assay development
Communicate effectively with physicians and hospital staff
Participate in cross training activities to provide coverage for laboratories in the Center.
Accepts and gives feedback, gives accurate information, and maintains ongoing communication with principal investigator

Bachelor's degree or MT with equivalent experience;
Knowledge of Q.C. and Q.A. as applied to clinical diagnostic testing; experience with clinical lab procedures required of a CAP and/or CLIA certified laboratory
